23rd February 2010

Dear Family/Friend:

We are currently experiencing an outbreak of gastrointestinal illness at George Derby Centre. This outbreak is affecting both our residents and staff, with primary symptoms being diarrhea and vomiting. We are taking every possible precaution to contain the illness, including segregation of all units, isolation of affected residents, and increased disinfection routines.

To help stop the spread of illness and preserve your own health, we strongly advise against visiting at this time. We welcome you to call and check in on your loved one’s well-being at any time, or to call and inquire about the status of the outbreak.

For those who still wish to visit and understand the risk of contracting the illness as well as spreading it to their own family and friends, we ask that caution is exercised during your visit. Specifically, we ask that you limit your visit only to your family / friend, that the visit is conducted in their room, and that you wash your hands as you both enter and leave the facility.

We appreciate your understanding and assistance in working towards resuming our normal operations as soon as possible. We ask that you share this message with other family and / or friends who may be planning a visit to George Derby Centre in the upcoming weeks.

Sincerely,

George Derby Centre

The Care Management Team
